Care

Just like with every pet, the most important part of keeping a reptile as a pet is making sure that they stay happy and healthy. Reptiles do need quite specialist care and this care can be very different depending on the type of reptile species you choose. So it’s a good idea to do your research and learn as much as you can about your pet (even before you bring them home!). For example, a lot of species eat insects, whereas other reptiles, like tortoises, are completely vegetarian! From the types of environment they need to live in, to their unique health needs, all reptiles need the right care that meets all of their requirements.

To help get you started, you’ll find lots of information about the health needs of reptiles in this section. From doing health checks on snakes to understanding your pet lizard’s behavioural changes, we’re here to help you learn as much as possible about keeping your pet reptile healthy and happy. While it’s not always easy to tell when something isn’t quite right, with the right knowledge, you’ll be in the best possible position to keep your pet healthy, happy and comfortable.
