A Scots family have been left puzzled after calling in rescuers to help catch a snake trapped inside their brand new oven.
Scotland’sanimal welfare charity the SSPCA were called after the cornsnake was found trapped in the oven tray of the new appliance.
But neither the family or the animal officer have any idea how the reptile got inside the oven.
Luckily the oven had not yet been turned on and officers managed to take the appliance apart to get the animal out.

Only six inches of the snake was visible in the oven tray, with the rest hidden deep inside.
The snake has been taken into the care of SSPCA and nicknamed Cob.
Scottish SPCA animal rescue officer Louise Hume said, “With assistance from my colleague, inspector Jack Marshall, and the member of the public we were able to take the oven apart and rescue the snake.

“Thankfully the oven was new and the family spotted the snake before it was turned on so it was uninjured after its ordeal.
“Neither we, nor the family have any idea how the snake came to be in the appliance.
“The snake has now been taken to one of our rescue and rehoming centres where it’s receiving the care it needs from our dedicated team.

“The team have named the reptile, who is around two and a half feet long, Cob.
“If anyone finds an animal in distress they should call the Scottish SPCA animal helpline on 03000 999 999.”
